Continuously Sedilia
Over the past few months, we've all spent a lot more time at home than usual. This unexpected interruption to our ordinary routines has meant that we understand now, more than ever, which pieces of furniture enhance our lives – and which pieces don’t.
Looking at how humans respond to experiences and objects has always helped inform how we design at Sedilia. Ever since our business first began in the 1990s, we’ve made it our aim to create the kind of furniture that would outlive us – we wanted to make upholstered pieces that would never lose their relevance, remaining eternally elegant, existing outside the parameters of passing fads or transient trends.
The unrivalled quality of our work isn't just about the materials we use, it's also about our approach – we’re not just designers, we’re also the makers. We have everything we need under one roof at our workshop in London, which means we’re able to push the boundaries of time-tested techniques every day, thanks to the knowledge, imagination and expertise of our trusted team of cabinet makers and upholsterers.
After twenty successful years of working to commission for the world’s leading interior designers – one thing we’ve learned at Sedilia, is the importance of listening. By doing this, we’re able to thrive on the challenge of crafting furniture with style, comfort and functionality at the core of every piece, safe in the knowledge that the finished product fits the brief perfectly.
Naturally, over the years, we’ve developed a style that is distinctively Sedilia. This came about because we realised, that in a world overloaded with choice, purity was probably the best antidote. Referred to internally, as our ‘pursuit of the perfect line’, it informs not only the way we design our own in-house collection – but also the way we approach the unique, one-off pieces for residential and commercial projects. As makers designers, designers makers, this innate stubbornness and a point-black refusal to create anything less than exceptional, has led to the development of the reductive, recognisable aesthetic that defines Sedilia.
It’s business as usual for us, so if you’d like to get in touch about future projects and ideas, or you want to learn more about our Sedilia collection and the London workshop, we’d love to hear from you.
